Solar Fountains

Consumer's source for solar fountain tips and advice.

A deck is a perfect outdoor place where we can relax after a long day at work. It is only made better when we put a few chairs, some plants, and a few decorations around the area. By adding our own touch we are creating a unique space that we will love to spend time in. One of the best ways to add spice to your deck is to build a solar water deck fountain.

Find a space on your deck that is not being used and that would be a good place to put the fountain. To make the area more relaxing try to put it in a corner near the sitting area. Measure the location so that you know how large the pond liner should be.

Buy the appropriate pond liner from the local home improvement store or garden centers. Find one that has a good shape and is not too large for the space you have designated.

Put a solar pump kit in the center of the pond. Choose one that can run through the night or day. Put the kit together according to the instructions in the manual. Make sure to place the solar panel on the outside of the pond – but not too far away. It needs to catch a lot of sunlight throughout the day.

Purchase a water spitter that has a unique design. Connect one end of it to the plastic tube of the solar pump. This will spit out the water as it comes out. You can find these made of resins, stones, and coppers. You can even find them in the shape of water or land animals. If you want to save money than you can purchase a simple sprayer.

Lay down a few large and small river rocks around the pump kit to keep it hidden. Now fill the pond with three-quarters water. Make sure to leave room on the surface for any water plants you want to add.
